" Skills to Thrive "
To help accelerate the Skill Development agenda of VTM, VTM successfully launched the 'Skills to Thrive' program from 1st March to 12th March along with Vivekanand College, Mumbai.
'Skills to Thrive' program uses a 2 pronged approach;
- to create awareness amongst the schools and college management and students' of the various skill development programs being offered by VTM for the economically backward students and - create awareness in the Industry to absorb these skilled and certified students in their workforce so that they become employable and productive on day 1 of the completion of the course.
This conduct of the 'Skills to Thrive' program was structured for 2 weeks. In week 1, the MBA students from Vivekanand college contacted @50 schools and colleges to create awareness as well as take back learning on which courses excite the students. In week 2, the students contacted @30 companies to understand their hiring demand as well as create awareness of the VTM offered Industry trainings and certifications.
With the 'Skills to Thrive' program completion, VTM now has good insights into the supply (students of schools & colleges) and demand (industry hiring requirements) side of the manpower development. The students of Vivekananda also learnt client facing skills and got an exposure to the Social sector and workings of a NGO.
VTM now is working towards implementing the insights and learnings from the 'Skills to Thrive' program which will surely benefit in bring the skill development initiative of VTM to become more industry relevant.
